THE HUGO BOSS FOUNDATION AND AHBAP REOPEN VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN ANTAKYA

METZINGEN, OCTOBER 22, 2024

After reopening at the start of the school year, the Ali Sayar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Antakya, Turkey, was officially inaugurated in mid-October. The school had been severely damaged by the earthquakes on February 6, 2023. The rebuilding project was funded by the HUGO BOSS Foundation in collaboration with the Turkish non-profit organization Ahbap. Ahbap focuses on development projects in areas such as education, healthcare, environmental protection, and disaster relief to support people in need. Attendees at the reopening ceremony included Harun Tüysüz, Hatay Provincial Director of National Education; Arif Kaya, HUGO BOSS Managing Director in Izmir; and Haluk Levent, President of Ahbap.

"With our production facility in Izmir and over 5,000 employees in Turkey, HUGO BOSS has a deep connection to the country. Our thoughts are still with those affected by the earthquakes," says Daniel Grieder, CEO of HUGO BOSS AG and Managing Director of the HUGO BOSS Foundation. "By supporting the reconstruction of the vocational high school in Antakya, the HUGO BOSS Foundation aims to help students continue their education and provide them with future opportunities."

The newly reopened Ali Sayar Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School now features 16 classrooms, as well as a new textile department, which will be supported by HUGO BOSS in the long-term. HUGO BOSS will equip the textile department with essential tools and facilitate access to professional trainers for the students. Additionally, HUGO BOSS will offer internship and job opportunities for the school's students and graduates.

The HUGO BOSS Group's largest production base and most technologically advanced factory worldwide is located in Izmir. Since the first day of the earthquakes in February 2023, the company has continuously supported relief efforts by sending emergency aid supplies to the region via trucks from its Izmir factory.

Through the HUGO BOSS Foundation, HUGO BOSS aims to contribute to a sustainable and prosperous future for all. By fostering a resilient and thriving environment, the foundation aspires to provide future generations with the opportunity to live their lives boldly and confidently.
